EV Dashboard 3.0 Adds Custom CarPlay Telemetry for Hyundai, Kia and Genesis E-GMP EVs

EV Dashboard 3.0 is now live under a new name for the independent iOS utility previously sold as IONIQ 5 Companion. The current U.S. App Store listing shows the Version 3.0 release at $12.99, while developer Gregory Burlingame said the update went live Aug. 27 and replaces the old name for existing purchasers rather than requiring a separate app.¹²

The release is mainly an expansion of what the app can put into an owner's CarPlay view. Its current App Store description says Version 3.0 adds user-arrangeable CarPlay tiles, a charging page, navigation, a DC-fast-charger finder, turn-by-turn directions where supported and an estimate of battery state of charge at arrival.¹ Those are product claims from the current listing and developer; this newsroom has not independently tested feature accuracy or compatibility.

The current listing names eight E-GMP models: Hyundai's IONIQ 5, IONIQ 5 N, IONIQ 6 and IONIQ 9; Kia's EV3, EV6 and EV9; and the Genesis GV60.¹ It also includes an important qualification: signal coverage varies by model, year and trim.¹ Reading vehicle data requires a separate ELM327-compatible Bluetooth Low Energy OBD-II adapter.¹³

The diagnostic layer goes deeper than the basic driving information normally visible at a glance. Burlingame's current product page says EV Dashboard can display pack state of charge and available energy, individual cell voltages, battery temperatures, 12-volt-system data, motor RPM, regeneration, tire pressures and charging telemetry, among other signals.³ The point of Version 3.0 is not that OBD-II telemetry itself is new: earlier IONIQ 5 Companion releases already offered vehicle telemetry and CarPlay features.⁴ The new release packages that existing diagnostic focus under a broader EV Dashboard identity while adding the new CarPlay and navigation functions described in the current production listing.¹²

There is one documentation wrinkle for owners checking compatibility. An older developer feature page still labels the Kia EV3 and Genesis GV60 as coming soon, while the current App Store listing and current developer homepage list both among supported vehicles.¹³⁴ The newer production surfaces are the better indicator of the app's current stated support, but the mismatch makes the listing's model/year/trim caveat especially relevant. It should not be read as a guarantee that every displayed signal works identically on every listed vehicle.

EV Dashboard remains a third-party utility rather than an automaker feature. The current product materials explicitly state that it is not affiliated with or endorsed by Hyundai, Kia or Genesis.¹³ For owners interested in the update, the verifiable change is therefore narrower than a product-review verdict: Version 3.0 is the live rebrand of IONIQ 5 Companion, with a broader current vehicle list and a larger CarPlay/navigation feature set, while actual signal coverage still depends on the specific vehicle.¹²
