BYD Says It Has Completed 10,000 Flash-Charging Stations. Reaching 20,000 by Year-End Would Require 80 More a Day.

BYD says it completed its 10,000th Flash Charging station on Aug. 28, with the milestone site located in Shenzhen's Longhua district.¹ That puts the company's reported domestic buildout exactly halfway to a target it has repeated since March: 20,000 Flash Charging stations in China by the end of 2026.¹²

The remaining target is easy to quantify. From Aug. 29 through Dec. 31 there are 125 calendar days. Adding another 10,000 stations over that span would require an average of 80 station completions per day. That is newsroom arithmetic based on BYD's current count and stated year-end target, not a daily build forecast or commitment issued by BYD.¹

The number gives the next four months a simple execution test. It also needs one important qualification: BYD's current primary release says the 10,000th station was completed and describes the network as 10,000 stations, but it does not provide a station-level dataset showing that every counted location was publicly accessible and operating when the release was published.¹

BYD says the network now spans 332 cities

BYD says the 10,000-station network covers 332 Chinese cities.¹ The company also reports more than 1.83 million Flash Charging users, with drivers of other vehicle brands accounting for nearly one-third of them, and cumulative charging volume above 210 million kWh.¹

Those are BYD's operating metrics. The release reviewed by the newsroom does not publish an independent audit or detailed methodology for the user share, charging volume or coverage percentages, so they should not be read as independently measured market data.¹

The nearly one-third other-brand share is the clearest reason the usage figures matter beyond BYD's own customers, but it remains a company-reported metric. BYD says a substantial share of current users drive vehicles from other brands.¹ The release does not establish what charging speeds those vehicles actually receive.¹

The 20,000-station target is not new

BYD announced the 20,000-station domestic goal when it introduced its second-generation Blade Battery and Flash Charging technology in March. At that time, the company said 4,239 Flash Charging stations had been installed in China.² Reuters also reported contemporaneously that BYD planned to expand the network to 20,000 stations during 2026.³

By a June 5 company release tied to a cooperation agreement with Sinopec, BYD said it had built more than 6,100 Flash Charging stations and again cited the 20,000 year-end target.⁴

Those historical figures show why Aug. 28 is an execution milestone rather than a new infrastructure promise. But they are not clean inputs for a precise historical daily-build calculation: BYD's own materials use different status terms over time — installed in March, built in June and completed in the current milestone release.¹²⁴ Without a reconciled station-status dataset, treating those words as identical measures of public operation would overstate what the primary evidence establishes.

For now, the clean benchmark is narrower. BYD says 10,000 stations are complete, and its stated domestic target remains 20,000 by Dec. 31.¹ If that target stays unchanged, the remaining arithmetic is 10,000 more stations in 125 days — 80 per day on average.¹
