Rivian Adds a Five-Day R1 Deal: $500 Off in the U.S., $700 CAD in Canada

Orders must be placed Sept. 4-8 and delivered by Sept. 30; the discount covers new MY26 or MY27 R1S/R1T purchases and leases, with stacking subject to Rivian’s rules.

Update, Sept. 4, 2026: Rivian has added a five-day R1 discount to the September offers this article originally covered on Sept. 1. This update also reflects the current wording on Rivian's $1,500 lease-offer page.

Rivian is offering $500 USD off in the United States or $700 CAD off in Canada on eligible new R1 orders placed from Sept. 4 through Sept. 8, 2026.1 The sales-event terms cover new MY26 or MY27 R1S and R1T vehicles, whether purchased or leased, and require buyers or lessees to take delivery by Sept. 30.1

The discount applies to the final vehicle transaction price. Rivian says availability is limited and the offer can change or end without notice, so the five-day window is not a permanent R1 price cut.1

The $500 discount may stack — but only where the terms allow it

Rivian's sales-event page says the temporary discount may combine with other offers where Rivian permits.1 That qualification matters because the company's separate September promotions carry their own vehicle, credit, geography and transaction requirements.

For example, Rivian currently advertises financing as low as 2.99% APR for 60 months for very well-qualified U.S. buyers on listed new 2026 R1 Dual configurations.2 Its current lease page separately offers a $1,500 contribution toward the amount due at signing on qualifying 24- or 36-month leases of listed new 2026 R1 Dual, Dual Standard and Tri configurations, subject to its stated restrictions.3

Those offers should not be treated as automatic add-ons for every sales-event order. Rivian's finance and lease pages each preserve their own combination restrictions, and eligibility has to be satisfied offer by offer.32

There is also a model-year distinction worth keeping straight. The new five-day sales event expressly covers MY26 and MY27 R1 vehicles, but the reviewed 2.99% financing and $1,500 lease-contribution pages expressly cover listed 2026 vehicles.132 The sales-event language therefore does not establish that a MY27 R1 qualifies for those separate September financing or lease promotions.

Rivian's lease-duration wording is now consistent

The Sept. 1 version of this article documented a mismatch on Rivian's live $1,500 lease page: its heading said 24 or 30 months while its detailed terms and examples used 24 or 36 months. Rivian's current page now says 24 or 36 months in both the heading and detailed terms.3

The current source establishes that the inconsistency is gone. It does not establish exactly when Rivian changed the heading, so this update does not assign the edit to Sept. 4.3

Short R1 order discounts are not new this year

Rivian's own previous-offers archive shows a similar $500 R1 order event for Aug. 5-9 and another for July 1-6, plus a $1,000 event for July 23-27.4 That history makes the Sept. 4 promotion a fresh buyer-facing discount, but not evidence by itself that Rivian has adopted a new incentive strategy or that a particular demand, inventory or quarter-end motive caused this week's offer.
