B2U Says Its Texas Second-Life Battery Project Is Operating at 28 MWh — Its Project Page Still Says 24 MWh

B2U Storage Solutions says its Bexar Martinez battery storage project near San Antonio has entered commercial operation at 28 MWh. The company says the site is built entirely from repurposed electric-vehicle batteries, is connected within CPS Energy's service territory and will provide grid services to ERCOT.¹

There is one notable mismatch in B2U's own current public material: the Sept. 9 commercial-operation release gives Bexar Martinez a 28 MWh energy capacity, while B2U's still-live project/history page describes the same project as 24 MWh.¹² The difference is 4 MWh. B2U's Sept. 9 release does not explain why its new figure is higher than the capacity shown on the project page.¹²

That distinction matters because the project was already public before today's operating announcement. B2U's project page says Bexar Martinez broke ground in April as a 10 MW / 24 MWh project and received equipment in the first week of June 2026. The page still describes the site in future tense, saying it will provide grid services to ERCOT once commissioned.²

The new release changes that status in B2U's telling. It says Bexar Martinez has now entered commercial operation and calls it the company's second Texas site developed and equipped with B2U battery-storage cabinets using repurposed EV batteries.¹ B2U also says the new project takes its Texas portfolio serving ERCOT to more than 50 MWh.¹

The 24-to-28 MWh difference should not be read as evidence of a specific expansion or redesign. The checked B2U material establishes only that the two current public figures differ; it does not establish the reason.¹² Likewise, the older project page's 10 MW rating and reference to more than 700 EV batteries describe the previously published 24 MWh configuration and should not be treated as confirmed final specifications for the 28 MWh commercial-operation configuration.²

For the EV industry, the more concrete development is the execution milestone itself: B2U is no longer describing Bexar Martinez only as a project under construction. It is now publicly saying a storage site built from repurposed EV batteries has moved into commercial operation in ERCOT territory.¹
