Ola’s S1Z Filing Says ‘46160 LFP Bharat Cell.’ Its Earlier LFP Disclosures Said ‘46100.’

Ola’s broader S1Z launch release says only ‘46 series LFP,’ and its current product page says ‘LFP Cell.’ The reviewed public materials do not explain what the different number means.

Ola Electric’s public disclosures now contain two different exact designations for its LFP cell program: 46100 in formal disclosures earlier this year and 46160 in an exchange-filed communication tied to the new S1Z scooter. The public materials reviewed for this story do not explain the relationship between those labels—or whether the difference reflects any physical change at all.1234

An exchange-filed reproduction of Chairman and Managing Director Bhavish Aggarwal’s Aug. 28 S1Z launch communication calls the battery a 46160 LFP Bharat Cell.2 Ola’s official investor-announcements index lists the corresponding Aug. 28 CMD social-media communication alongside the S1Z product-launch disclosures.1

That is different from the exact nomenclature Ola used in the spring. An April 7 company release announced what Ola called the readiness of an indigenous 46100 LFP cell and said the cell would begin entering Ola products starting the following quarter.3 Ola’s current investor-announcements index also lists a June 23 announcement titled Ola Electric Receives BIS Certification for its Indigenous 46100 LFP Cell, Strengthening India's Battery Manufacturing Capabilities.1 The newsroom did not independently reproduce the underlying BIS certificate, so the certification point is limited here to what Ola announced.

The distinction matters because the documents establish a difference in published nomenclature, not a conclusion about the engineering behind it. They do not establish that Ola switched physical cell formats, replaced or abandoned the 46100 program, created a derivative, or made a labeling error. In this article, 46100 and 46160 refer to Ola’s published designations, not cell dimensions independently measured by the newsroom.123

Ola’s other S1Z material is less specific

Ola’s broader Aug. 28 S1Z launch release uses the more general phrase 46 series LFP cell platform rather than either exact numerical suffix.5 The company’s current S1Z product page identifies the battery simply as an LFP Cell in the reviewed page text.6

That product page currently lists two S1Z configurations: a 3.1-kWh version with customer deliveries scheduled for December 2026 and a 5.1-kWh version with deliveries scheduled for March 2027.6 Those future dates are another reason not to describe the S1Z as an already delivered, production-scale 46160 vehicle based on the launch communication alone.

Ola has made in-house battery-cell development a recurring part of its public product strategy. Its April release presented the 46100 LFP cell as a readiness step in that effort, while its current Battery Innovation Centre page continues to prominently describe the company’s older 4680 cell and does not resolve the 46100-versus-46160 terminology in the reviewed text.34

For now, the defensible conclusion is narrow: Ola publicly used 46100 for its LFP program earlier in 2026 and used 46160 in the exchange-filed reproduction of Aggarwal’s S1Z launch communication. A technical explanation, formal 46160 certification disclosure, or production documentation would be needed to establish what that numerical difference actually means.
